In "Somewhere only we know" I hope to capture the feeling of being known. This piece is about the freedom found in some conversations, friendships, and even brief encounters where you get to embrace the feeling of being known. Somehow the mess is beautiful. It all comes together and has space to be held. For whatever brief moments we can be known to ourselves and witness the truth in others, that is where the beauty lies.

20" x 20" Acrylic and posca paint pen on canvas.

"Somewhere only we know" - Original song by Keane

I walked across an empty landI knew the pathway like the back of my handI felt the earth beneath my feetSat by the river and it made me complete
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you're gonna let me inI'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen treeI felt the branches of it looking at meIs this the place we used to love?Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?I'm getting old, and I need something to rely onSo, tell me when you're gonna let me inI'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we goTalk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everythingSo, why don't we go somewhere only we know?Somewhere only we know
Oh, simple thing, where have you gone?I'm getting old, and I need something to rely on
So, tell me when you're gonna let me inI'm getting tired, and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we goTalk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everythingSo, why don't we go?So, why don't we go?
Ooh, oh-ohAh, oh
This could be the end of everythingSo, why don't we go somewhere only we know?Somewhere only we knowSomewhere only we know
